Save your money

First, the description was wrong. In effect, this is the amp's "integration" harness. Alright creatures, I did some research on my site, this was exactly the product I was looking for. Well, that's if he did what is stated in the MFG. site. I wanted to replace the factory stereo in my '96 Lincoln Mark 8 with something that would play on my iPod. My car has a factory JBL audio system. Several stereo dealers told me I would have to forego the entire installation as aftermarket stereos would not work with a factory JBL system. Now it's '96 and I don't want to upgrade the whole stereo at a retail price higher than what the car is selling for. The metra 70-5630 wiring harness is intended to allow me to keep the factory amps and speakers when paired with an aftermarket head unit. Yes, no luck. Sounds more like an AM/FM clock radio when I hear any sound at all. It was almost like a loose connection, but I've tried jumping the wires over the connector and still no luck. Seems to me someone didn't have the correct schematic when making this harness. I will be contacting 800 tech support today. My advice is if you plan to purchase Metra products other than the basic wiring kit. Give someone you know money and have them kick your shins instead.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
