Review on High Performance Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor: Height Adjustable, 240Hz, Full HD 1920X1080P - AW2518Hf by Brian Clarey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice and big, super clear, very bright

I upgraded my gaming system and was still using my 10 year old monitor which worked great. When my daughter expressed interest in taking over my old setup, I needed a different monitor, so I figured it was time to upgrade. I had a new nVidia GTX2060 card so I was looking for something that would support nVidia's advanced sync capabilities and came across this monitor. I've had issues with Alienware before, but that was before Dell bought them. And even then, their performance was top-notch (only their reliability was a bit questionable). Given the Dell hardware, I figured it was probably worth it. Super bright, lots of ports inside, control buttons in the bottom right corner are unobtrusively backlit and can be found by touch (you still have to remember what each of them does, but they work great, and it's pretty logical how you navigate them once you have them in the menu) . The stand is nice in the bare minimum - it's a triangular stand (which unfortunately means you have to be careful about "pushing" it back so it doesn't go over the edge of your desk and destabilize), but it's nice and heavy, tall for a fixed-height monitor (good for me, I'm a tall guy and still use a standing desk a lot anyway). Details are crisp and pixels blend seamlessly. While this is NOT a 4k monitor, I could easily see an improvement over my decades-old workhorse. There's an anti-glare, non-reflective finish that I've found to really help with eye strain (something I didn't realize was an issue with my old monitor until I compared it). It's only been a few months with this monitor. works almost 24/7 (I leave my install on, Windows doesn't always seem to know when to turn the screen off, not entirely sure why) and no issues, no dead pixels. Fingers crossed, it will stay that way for a long time.
