We've had various iterations of this curling kit over the past 23 years and they usually lasted 2 or 3 years but my last one lasted about 15 years. I was so afraid it would break because I had tried other sets before and none of them held a curl in my hair like our old one. It ended up being fried on an overseas trip and I was devastated because I thought I'd never have good hair again. I found this model and it's even better than the previous one! It gets hot on the highest settings, which is what I needed. Mine had mentioned everything, although other reviews mentioned missing items. I also love purple and black, although it's a bit heavier than the previous model. The retractable cord is a nice touch. I would suggest using clips that are more like a barrette with about 20 teeth on the top sections of your hair as these clips can leave dents. I also think I'll be ordering another set of medium sized casters - the instruction manual suggests a mail order option to get any size replacements at a good price. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you like curly hair - MUCH easier, faster and less damaging than a curling iron. I'm ordering another one for my mom today! PS I noticed that the instructions don't state how long it takes to heat up, but I usually plug it in for 15-20 minutes before plugging it in.
