Sony Dream Machine - Refurbished - Reliable so far

We bought two refurbished units (ICF-CD843V) through Revain Warehouse Deals - they look brand new. So far it's working fine, if there are any changes I'll update. We mostly listen to AM talk radio - excellent reception - same performance as three portable radios (ICF-M410V) we've used for years. AM (internal antenna) is tuned by rotating the radio on the table. Other bands (FM/TV/Weather) use a wire antenna (24 inch) hanging from the back - reception is also excellent. Station presets are very useful. Two speakers (stereo, for source) - great sound, plenty of power - can make it loud, still good. There's also a "Mega Bass" switch next to the volume wheel on the right. Powered by AC-120v plug - NO batteries. NO external jacks (i.e. headphones, speakers, ipod, none) Buttons are nice, light and have a nice feel. The device weighs 5 pounds and sits on a table - you can press the buttons with one finger, you don't have to hold the device still. The CD works great on both devices we have - no problems - no hissing - great sound. Choosing playback modes. THE CLOCK has LARGE digits (almost 7/8 inch high, looks even bigger) - easy to read in the room - three levels of brightness. Setting includes date and year. Sleep timer: 90/60/30/15 min. NAP timer: 10/20/30/60/90/120 SNOOZE timer: 10/20/30/40/50/60 Unusually beautiful FEATURE: Dedicated button on the Front - toggles Daylight Saving Time on/off - no need to change time settings . "H x 7.5" W x 8.25" D (base 4.5" W x 5.5" D)

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
