Remanufactured 2005 Ford Explorer

I remanufactured a 2005 Ford Explorer with engine test code P0401 (insufficient EGR flow). This car appears to have a combined DPFE sensor and EGR valve. The new part differs slightly from the original (lower part of the EGR valve). Otherwise, it exploded straight up. The new part comes with a new steel gasket and two mounting bolts. I'm very happy with the result because after the exchange the horrible code didn't come back. If you have the patience and a set of wrenches, this job is easily done by hand in under an hour. Remove the air intake (large plastic tube from the air filter to the throttle body). Then remove the throttle body, easy 4 bolts (don't worry about a new gasket, Ford uses a thick plastic gasket which is very difficult to break). Before removing the old EGR, unscrew the EGR tube nut that fits into the bottom of the EGR valve. Then remove the two screws that secure the EGR valve to the bracket. Disconnect the electrical connectors and hoses connected to the EGR valve. Then reverse the process with the new part.

Pros
  • Abrasion and Corrosion Resistant
Cons
  • Quality
