Terrible sucking! Bad design or defect, anyway I will send it back as soon as possible.

I have owned several Black & Decker Upright Vacuums over the years and have always been happy with them. On previous models the suction was great and the vacuum never lost suction no matter how full the dust box was (reasonably). And with other B&D models, I've never had trouble completely emptying the dust box and the filter almost never got clogged. But the suction power of this model is terrible! It is unlikely that anything will be picked up. Serious. It's a pet vacuum and can't even pick up cat litter around the tray. Hardly picks up crumbs from the kitchen floor! I've never had a handheld vacuum with such poor suction. You haven't even tested it on cat litter pellets? The box literally has a photo showing it being used to clean the litter box! I've even tried using different nozzles and lengthening the nozzle to see if it makes a difference, but no matter what I've tried, the suction power is still terrible. In addition, the dust container can hardly be completely emptied. When you tilt the bowl to dump, the internal valve (the rubber valve that keeps material from falling back through the nozzle) opens and blocks the material I'm trying to dump from the dust bin. I tried to reach out with my fingers to pull out the remaining debris and the valve popped out! I was able to put it back on but I'm pretty sure it will happen again and I take the risk of breaking it every time I have to put it back on. And if you vacuum an area with fine dust particles (e.g. an area near a box), the filter will clog almost immediately and lose suction power entirely. At least I think it's a clogged filter because if you pull the filter out and tap the countertop or bottom of the sink multiple times, a whole heap of dust splatters on it with each tap. Lots of dust. I've never experienced that with other models. This may be because this model has a flat filter and not the usual "bowl shaped" filter found in other B&D models. Seems like a bad choice to change the design of the filter. If I could make videos I would upload a video of this thing actually *throwing* the stuff it just picked up! Maybe this one is defective, or maybe it's a terrible design. Anyway, I'll send it back and Revain will pay for the return postage. I just pop into the store to buy a handheld vacuum so I can try different brands and make sure all the parts are included (other reviewers said they were missing a wall mount). I thought I could count on black. & Decker is of high enough quality to order a handheld vacuum online. I was wrong. The only advantage of this model is the motorized brush head. It attaches easily and rotates as expected. Unfortunately, since the suction power is so terrible, I can't comment on how well the brush actually picks up pet hair or the like.

Pros
  • Upright Vacuum
Cons
  • So far so good
