The adapter worked right out of the box with the universal adapters already available in Windows 10, so if like me you don't use hard drives anymore, no worries. After connecting to my wifi using the generic driver, I just did a quick google search for the specific driver and installed it very easily and painlessly. I have a small apartment so can't say much about the range, but it has a strong 5GHz signal 20 feet away in a separate room from the router. So far I've bought 2 of these for PC that I built for my nephews and based on my experience I'll probably buy them again.
