Review on TYR Racetech Performance Goggle Clear by David Jennings

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Basically, they protect the eyes from water ingress. What else do you need?

I've worn the exact same model of TYR glasses for almost 30 years. They are easier on the eyes than the "swedes" or unlined glasses that many people prefer. I never liked them so I basically stayed with them from an early age when I was on the swim team. Another TYR I've had for a number of years finally broke a few weeks ago so I had to order more. Used like any other glasses. Mine, which I ordered last week, arrived with the strap already slightly scratched, so I'm wondering how long they will last. If they don't last at least a few years, then something has definitely changed. . I've had pairs like this for years. They changed the design a bit, removed the logo on the sides and didn't leave as many adjustment straps as before. But the landing is still almost the same. It's good if a spare can be thrown in a bag, and it's good that they come in clear, black, blue, etc. if you want to adapt to indoor or outdoor swimming. When you dive or start diving off the blocks they tend to come loose a little more than some of the other models but I haven't done that in 20 years so I don't mind.

Pros
  • Wide angle, low profile polycarbonate lens with TPR spacers and split natural latex strap UV protection and anti-fog coating
Cons
  • Compatibility
