Review on 💪 Enhance Your Truck's Performance with the Monroe 34904 Gas-Magnum Shock Absorber by Mike Palma

Replacement for FJ40 stock height

I installed this shock on the front of my 1974 FJ40 and it ran with no problems. If you're looking for FJ40 shocks, stay away from the Monroe Sensa-Trac 58497 Load Matched Shocks. Revane and Monroe say it will fit, but they're at least 6 inches longer and fully stretched. This makes it impossible to install them yourself with a coil spring compression tool. You can try, but I'm sending mine back. The old shock absorbers they replaced were completely worn out. They could be squeezed and bent open by hand and held their position. After installing these shock absorbers, the body began to roll less when cornering, and impacts stopped causing sharp painful jerks that were felt in the spine, especially in the back. It drove almost like a new car. The movement isn't plush, but noticeably better than worn leaky ones. I slowed down a bit on the rutted and holey path and drove over those concrete bumps in the parking lot so you don't go straight over the counter to the next and the handled truck falls a lot smoother. Worth the money if you are not interested in buying heavy duty or specialty gear.
