I used to have a shower radio with pale blue trim and 5 blue buttons on the front (many different brands are available from Revain) so I have a base to compare to this black one. I only use FM mode. I learned from Blue that getting it with an LCD is VERY necessary. Of course, the non-LCD automatically tunes in to stations, but you can't tell which one you're listening to. Finding the right station would take longer than a shower! In addition, all these radios have poor antenna sensitivity, after auto-tuning, some will be clearly tuned, and some will be static (and some will not be at all). To make matters worse, your favorite station may or may not tune in depending on the position of the radio and the wall to which it is attached. Touching or not touching the radio also affects reception. I currently have to place this black radio horizontally on my shower stall (looks bad) to tune to my favorite station, it won't do if it's vertical or against one of the walls. Sound quality is consistent across brands, they're clear and loud enough, but don't expect bass from a small speaker. The image in the radio ad itself seemed a bit deceiving to me in terms of size, it looked like the size of a portable CD player. It's not, it's the size of a hockey puck like the others. Using an external bluetooth enabled source is the only way to use shower ringtones IMO. The FM tuners are so weak, the only benefit is that you can change channels while you're in the shower.
