Review on ProAm USA Stand Camera Crane by Julie Bishop

Great cheap alternative

I use this dart stand which is designed to be used on regular tripods and does not come with the ability to be placed on such a stand. While I wasn't willing to shell out $3 or $400 for a good tripod, I settled on the ProAm outrigger support, which is rated for up to 100 pounds. It works great but I wish ProAm had put a large diameter pull handle on the mounting cup that goes over the mast. I think the small handle could have been changed to reduce the chance of the counterweight hitting the big handles. However, a vise is required for tightening. I have two other ProAm jibs and use the same racks on them with no problems. problems other than the need to apply enough force to tighten the bolt in the hydraulic head to prevent the head's bottom plate from rotating with the boom when the boom rotates. I think a proper normal tripod would be stiffer but as I mentioned. I just don't have the money for a good high performance tripod. This is a good alternative.
