This is the same as the Survivor Pro water filter pump except it comes with a second set of filters and hoses. It also comes with a backwash syringe for the inlet filter. Although it's lightweight and made of plastic, it's sturdy and durable. I first tested this by filtering the water out of a dog trough. The water was fine. The next day, yesterday, I took water from a small creek that empties into the Rappahannock River. Again no problem. If me and a fellow traveler get sick in the next few days, I will change my rating. This pump is easy to install and use. Simply connect the end of the inlet line to the fitting on the bottom of the unit and lower the inlet filter into the water source. Connect the output lead to the top connector and plug the other end into an outlet. Then start the download. It's not very fast, but it gets the job done. You can backwash the inlet filter by filling the syringe with purified water (or tap water once you get home) and then plugging the connector on the syringe into the inlet filter and running water through it. You can also flush the primary and secondary filters by attaching an outlet line to the inlet and pumping clean water through it. Do not connect the suction line with filter to the outlet. The back pressure of the filter will cause the pipe to rupture and water will splash everywhere.
