It is thinner than wood poles, which is ok, but you should use the wall-mount pole holder they include for a tight fit. The pole holder is pretty basic - no angle adjustment and not very substantial in weight. I keep the flag out 24/7 with a light shining on it - so it gets a lot of weather. The wood pole it replaced was at a lower angle and was warping/discoloring badly in the weather. This will solve those problems, but I would not consider this otherwise "heavy duty". It solves my problems, but can't give it 4/5-stars, but it does get the job done.
