These things build like tanks

I've been using these IOSafe backups for about 5 years. They have their flaws, but to me they've been consistent performers. They are ideal for protecting files at home or occasionally. Meaning. It's not the best drive for everyday use. It just isn't fast enough when you're constantly moving files to and from the hard drive. It works, but I want something much faster for that. I use the IOSafe disk as a "safe" for important files. These are files (e.g. old photos, images, tax returns) that I really want to protect, but most of all I wanted them to be kept in a safe place. Remarks. First. This IOSafe drive is very valuable these days. You can buy portable SSD drives cheaper (and they're probably faster), but from a safe source for bulk backups. It's hard to beat - Built like a tank. These discs are very heavy. They are so heavy that you have to think about where to store them. If you're not careful, the drive is heavy enough to deform a thin table. I've mentioned this a few times, but hard drives aren't very fast. Expect transfer speeds on the Mas to be around 90m/s - I've never had a problem installing one of these drives. I have external hard drives (or peripherals) that don't mount properly. I've never tried them on a Mac, but they work great on a PC. I've never had any issues with missing or corrupt files (knock on wood). Final verdict - I wouldn't use them as file servers of any kind. , but when it comes to protecting important files, these Synology hard drives can't be beat!

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I won't say anything
