So far, so good! I have a business that makes almost $1.

So far, so good! I have a business that makes almost $1 million a year and I have a software system that needs to be backed up every day. Great solution because nobody has to take a backup home

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Highly reliable external hard drives

I already had an iOS external hard drive and I really liked this product. This one is just as good. Feels very solid and strong. I like the fact that it's fireproof and waterproof. My other IoSafe was also shockproof when dropped from seven feet.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Minor issues

Two years and recurring problems -- Hard drive icon not mounted -- Device not disabled -- Backups no longer run -- Cannot open files for review or use -- HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT as a backup, works but excellent at keeping doors open. There must be better units.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Damaged

So far so good, good for storage

I have two of these connected to an iMac and a Mac Mini, both running Yosemite 10.10.1. One worked 6 months, the other about 6 weeks. When they arrived I had to format them using Disk Utility for Mac - simple and straightforward. They appear to be well made and very quiet as they don't have fans. As expected, the USB 3.0 port is fast. Luckily I haven't experienced fire or flooding, so I can't confirm the ability to withstand fire and/or water.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons

Good but EXPENSIVE

Unit arrived in good condition. It looks good and meets the manufacturer's requirements. The device is switched on, mounted correctly and recognized by the computer via the local network. In summary, it appears to be working as advertised. The gray color of a battleship is unattractive, but most people don't care. The only two real problems are: first: the device is prohibitively expensive; and second, it also had to have an eSATA port, especially for the price. For this reason I didn't give…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

I was wrong! At first I thought ioSafe cheated me! After their quick response, they showed me that it was Apple's fault! Attention buyers! If you are a Mac owner and decide to buy this device, the latest version of Apple OS 10.13.3 Mac OS High Sierra does not show proper device listings in their DISK UTILITY app. Namely, when you go to DISK UTILITY, there is an icon in the upper left corner that says "View". When you open this menu, "Show volumes only" is selected. (Photo #1) THIS IS WRONG…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Communication with seller

The best backup protection. that's why I say it

I have been using iosafe backup drives for many years. Luckily I've never had a natural disaster (fire or flood) but having Iosafe in those circumstances would be an incredible relief. A backup to another drive is the only solution, it's paramount to have it on one that can withstand fire or the more likely hazard, water. Quality, packaging, instructions, accessories (cables, power supplies, adapters) are the finest. USB 3.0 speed writes very fast when importing my files from Lightroom to the…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Functionality

These things build like tanks

I've been using these IOSafe backups for about 5 years. They have their flaws, but to me they've been consistent performers. They are ideal for protecting files at home or occasionally. Meaning. It's not the best drive for everyday use. It just isn't fast enough when you're constantly moving files to and from the hard drive. It works, but I want something much faster for that. I use the IOSafe disk as a "safe" for important files. These are files (e.g. old photos, images, tax returns) that I…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I won't say anything
