This remote will only work and control your Samsung TV. It will NOT work with other connected devices/boxes like a DirecTV receiver. My TVs are several years old and they are 65-inch curved 8000-series models (just a step below the best of the best 9000-series models released a few years ago). The OEM remote that came with your new TV will work/control almost any other device connected to your TV. If you try to control anything other than the TV you will get an ERROR message saying it is an "unsupported remote control" and it just doesn't work with other devices/boxes like a Blu-ray player, an audio receiver, etc. works. e. Spend more dollars and get a genuine genuine remote when you need to control more than the TV itself. If you only use the streaming apps/services built into your TV, then this remote will be fine for you. This remote is comfortable to hold, the buttons respond and work properly, just like the original remote.
