Tension gates are made of metal and are quite durable. My little one kept pressing on it with all his weight and didn't move (although it's very important to always make sure that each child is watching the gate). 2. Installation was easy and quick as it took me 1 hour for the first gate, 30 minutes for the second gate and 15 minutes for the third gate. Also, no drilling or special tools were required.3. 2 extensions are equipped with gates and are suitable for rooms of different sizes.4. Gate doors can open in any direction, which is very useful. The baby cannot open this gate because it has 2 buttons (one press and another press) that require simultaneous movement with little force. This usually requires the fine motor skills and strength of a child or a much older adult. Please note: The item is correctly tensioned when the slot of the locking mechanism is green when the gate is open. Recommendation: I personally recommend purchasing a Baby Gate Wall Protection Cup (sold separately and in a pack of 4) to prevent damage to the wall and provide extra support. A simple search for "Baby Gate Wall Protection Cup" will return the desired search results. Most wall caps will fit this gate size. Biggest Problem: The reason I only gave this item 3/5 stars is that the metal lead screw and connection to the wall keeps breaking. This happened to all three of my gates, although the gate is still intact. This can compromise the integrity of the gate as the tension can relax over time. Also, I couldn't find parts on either Revain or the company site. While I like this gate in general, I can only give it 3/5 stars until this potential design flaw is fixed. Customer Support: Contacting customer support via email regarding the issue listed earlier was a bit difficult and time consuming.
