Accuracy and consistency when properly configured and used.

The instructions included in the box did not include steps to calibrate the device. I figured out how to set up and calibrate the device, which I'll cover below. Overall, the thermometer is accurate and provides stable readings of body temperature and scans 3-5 cm from the forehead. I tested consistency by scanning my temperature 10 times over the course of an hour and getting the same temperature each time. Model Number: JXB-178 Steps: Open the box inside. Do not touch the infrared reader, which is the body of the scanner. Read the instructions to become familiar with the buttons. Insert 2 AA batteries into the base of the handle so that one is oriented to + and the other to according to the signs on the inside of the cover. Pull the trigger to turn on the thermometer. Leave the thermometer out of the packaging for 15 minutes to allow the temperature of the device to equilibrate with the ambient temperature in the room. After 15 minutes, pull the trigger. r to turn on the device. Select Body mode by pressing the MODE button. Press and hold the MODE button for 2 seconds. You should hear 1 beep and see F-1 blinking. Press the MODE button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Press the MEM button to select the high temperature alarm threshold. You should hear 1 beep and see a flashing F-2 on the display. Press the MEM button again to select the temperature offset. You should see F-4 blinking and then the current offset is displayed. To change the temperature offset, hold the MODE button until you reach the desired offset. The offset runs from -5.0 to +5.0 in 0.1 increments. I set mine to 1.4. Press MEM to save. Hold the scanner at a distance of 3-5 cm from the forehead. Press the shutter button once to turn it on. Press the shutter button again to take your temperature. healthy with a normal body temperature of 98.6 F for reference. Recalibrate by adjusting the offset until the reading is 98.6F.
