If you wish to replace your batteries with Lithium batteries without switching to a Lithium converter/charger, you will need this so that you can put your charger into fast mode . This is because lithium batteries require at least 14.4V to be fully charged. Installation is simple, connecting directly to the converter/charger. The controls are fairly basic, just a button and an LED that flashes at different speeds to indicate charging status. Just press a button to switch between Boost, Normal or Jet. Maybe one day I'll spend the money and upgrade my inverter/charger, but for now it's a really inexpensive way to get the extra features I need out of the current one.
