There are several spiralizers on the market. Many others seem to be the same style, they are all made in China just sold under different names. The price also varies greatly between the two. What I have read again and again is that many devices break down after a very short time. Yes, I also like doing good business, but not if the product is short-lived. So I found this one - Westmark. It was about the same as the most expensive Chinese style, around 33.00. I also liked that it was made in Germany. However, when I received the package, the box had a "Made in China" sticker over the German black, red and yellow symbol. It was a disappointment. My 13-year-old son convinced me that I don't have to worry. From what I can see the slicer is well built; although I don't really have a comparison as this is our first spiral cutting experience. If I had seen some of the others I might have been able to tell if they were better made or not. We really wanted to try this last night. We cooked shrimp with bacon and zucchini noodles - delicious! My 8 year old daughter did the spiral and she said it was fun. Then after dinner we were in a room where we had bunk beds pushed together and our 13 and 14 year old boys woke up to a big plate of sliced pears. They switched the blades to use the highest settings. They were pretty good. Our little one liked it a lot as it was easy to chew. Some people have mentioned the lack of guidance or instructions. I don't feel like it's necessary - my kids just figured it out. If you order this you basically know what it does, it's not difficult. and to clean it: First I washed it out of the box with hot soapy water. Then when we used it, I just washed it off. Some of the fiber didn't quite come off the smallest blade, so I used a kitchen toothbrush very gently and it came out right away. We plan to clean it as soon as possible after each use. I wouldn't toss it in the sink for later and definitely never put it in the dishwasher! Overall we are happy with this product so far. Personally, I was very disappointed that it was made in China, or at least had a hint of it. Last night I went to the Westmark website and looked at their product catalogue. In fact, most of their products are made in Germany; However, the Black-Red-Yellow signal is not listed in the description for this specific product. It appears to be a German design product made in China. Like I said, this is a bit disappointing and I'm feeling slightly misled, but I'll probably move on quickly. I just hope the details don't get out of it. We need it quite a lot because we have kids who like to help out in the kitchen a lot. I'll probably hold onto the crate for a while, and if it gives us any trouble or shows any signs of weakness, I'll contact Revane. You've always been good at fixing bugs.
