So I'm both happy and unimpressed with this purchase. I usually spend more on audio gear, but to be honest this was one of two DACs with an optical audio port and a line out that met my needs, the other was the FiiO D3 or D03K and they each came within less Dollar Along with others, I thought a Prozor with a volume control might come in handy. My setup takes an optical audio signal from my Samsung TV, then passes it to a Prozor DAC and then I connect a 3.5mm shielded cable to the line out port (3.5mm headphones). a line in on my computer, which is then mixed to my computer. Audio. This allows me to use my TV (along with consoles and other systems) on my computer at the same time. This was originally done with a 3.5mm cable straight from each console controller to the line, which struggled and had regular static and interference issues. Prozor solves some problems while introducing new ones. So to solve some initial things. My volume control can go from zero to maximum without distortion or crackle, either through my motherboard or direct headphones. I didn't use the Toslink cable that came with it and instead bought my own which was longer and better quality. Problems in my use, from most important to least important: Problem 1: Parts of this DAC are either not shielded or not shielded properly. The audio connector seems loose compared to the other connectors I connected the cable to. Touching and moving the DAC causes noise and crackling, especially if something touches the Toslink cable. Also, installing a DAC on my old Macbook Pro or Anker USB charger makes an audible hiss every 4-5 seconds. Now it's standing alone, pushed to the back of my desk next to some books to avoid disturbance. Problem 2: The device makes a lot of crackling noises when it is first turned on and for the first minute or so. I haven't had the problem since I started it, but it was noticeable. Not that I'd call it personal use, but if you're someone who flicks it on and off every time you turn on the TV or whatever, your ears can crackle for a minute or two. Problem 3: The device has a low hum all the time. Not exactly a mark of quality, but it's not crackling and is fairly easily drowned out by most background music/game sounds. Overall, this is about the same performance as my $45 3-port 4k HDR hub switch. For example, the switch works, but it has some strange problems, such as solving by yourself. This DAC works similarly, but it has issues I can work around using. If I had to do it all over again I'd probably pick the FiiO D3 simply because I have a $100 FiiO DAC/amp combo from them that drives my Beyer DT 770s and doesn't have any shielding issues. Unfortunately, they don't sell it directly on Revain and you have to trust that one of their official dealers isn't just selling fakes. But both cost around $20, so it's entirely possible that both DACs share similar flaws.
