Review on ⚡ Efficient 20W Solar Panel Car Battery Charger: Portable, Waterproof, Ideal for Car, Boat, RV | POWISER by Shane Grosland

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The panel is good, the fittings are junk

GOOD: The panel itself looks quite solidly assembled. In full sun, my multimeter reads about 18V, so it appears to be working as advertised. BAD: Compared to all other chargers I own (from Battery Tender), the panel's SAE connector is reverse wired (positive wire). is the female side of the SAE connector, not the male side). To get this thing to work with my existing pigtails connected to my car/motorcycle I had to cut and reverse the SAE connector on the panel. Which was annoying, but only a couple of connectors for the butt joint and shrink tubing to hold it in place. DANGEROUS: The included accessories are rubbish. And I would say dangerous. Due to the polarity reversal mentioned above, this means that all accessories are wired so that their positive lead is the pin on the SAE connector. This means that when connecting to a battery with an actual charge, you can touch the open positive contact in the connector to ground and create a short circuit. Worse still, none of the accessories have a built in fuse, unlike all the other accessories I have for this purpose. See the attached photos for a comparison of the pigtails between a good panel with a fuse holder and the junk that comes with this panel. (Note that a good pigtail has a fuse on the positive terminal and the positive terminal is not an open pin on the connector). In short, the panel is ok, to do this simply reverse the polarity of the connector on the panel. compatible with other, higher quality accessories. And throw the included accessories in the bin.
