I wanted to replace my small Phillips charger/speaker for the iPhone 4 that I carry next to the bed. That's all he did. Charge and talk. I agree. I really liked these Phillips speaker chargers, they came in two sizes, three in total! Unfortunately, the only Philips I could find for my iPhone 5 was larger. It's a lot more than what I need on my bedside table, but the measurements were better. The sound quality is excellent (for what it is), much better than some cheap clock radios of the past. I had to use the manual to figure out every function. I doubt I'll ever use an alarm clock, just setting the time wasn't easy. It has twenty-two keys. One of them acts like two, hitting one side for one and the other side for something else. This is a big button. (The ones you'd hit if you wanted him to shut up and go back to sleep. For a few minutes.) Maybe having two alarms would help someone who wants to set it up differently for different days of the week. Or maybe twice a day. I don't think two people can use it because it can only be in one place at a time. :_) This is a quality product. I keep the manual in my bedside drawer.++++UPDATE 11 FEBRUARY 2015 ++++++Downgraded to 3 stars. I've had to use this "manual" (a huge sheet of paper with complicated instructions scattered everywhere) multiple times. Once I programmed the stations and was so proud! Then there was a power outage. NEVER DISCONNECT IT FOR ANY REASON WHEN USING THE RADIO. We are lost. I will say that it connects to satellite time so it automatically sets the time when power comes back. At the moment the alarm clock rings once a week, in the middle of the day. I can't figure out how to stop it. I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING BETTER, SMALLER AND SIMPLE ON THE MARKET NOW and I don't need to read this review anymore.
