Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Xerox XD-COMBO Duplex Combo Document Scanner for PC and Mac, with Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) by Michael Hale

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great performance, powerful scanner options, software seems outdated 2003 format.

Benefits: The scanner buttons on the scanner are clear and easy to use. The duplex function is great. The PC scanner software options are, in my opinion, fully featured and beyond the capabilities of the average user. They'll take you to the moon and back with the depth of scanner options available. The PDF instruction manual is a great read if you're going on a long potty break or if you're into that kind of technical stuff. Technical Support: Free Xerox Technical Support by phone. I think the Xerox technical support team was aware of the confusion with outdated but powerful software. The software that controls the scanner looks like it was developed back in 2003. The technical support was patient, patient and accommodating to help me bridge the gap between understanding the old layout that wasn't designed for the look and feel of Windows 10. We ran a remote session which was the key was to show me where to find the software on the PC etc. Cons: The Xerox.com website was confusing as it only supports printers. The Xeroxscanner.com website supports scanners. The Xerox.com website is dying instead of letting you know. Xeroxscanners.com is the only site for scanner drivers, support and registration. I expect Xerox Corporation to anticipate this confusion and inform the end user from the start that there are two different Xerox websites. The scanner's technical support team admitted that they too are aware of this confusion. That's why. Zerox.com allows you to enter scanner information, but the website does not recognize the model number. Then you scratch your head and try several times. In fact, you cannot start a chat session from the Xerox.com website to get help because the model number required to start a chat session does not support the scanner model numbers. Xerox must notify you in advance. The phone support told me about two different websites. Scanner software: Although the scanner software is powerful and offers options that only an experienced artist with a palette full of colors can appreciate, ordinary users will not understand it. outside the facility. This software is so outdated that there is no way to move the software icon to the desktop or taskbar. So how do you start the scanner software? You need to select the small up arrow icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Then look for a small Christmas green and red "GT" symbol. Choose. A small rectangular screen will open in the bottom right corner of the screen. The installation DVD that came with the scanner has not been updated to automatically install Windows 10. I had to manually locate the "setup" file extension on the DVD to install the software. . This was my experience. The Xerox software also does not appear in the Windows 10 installed software directory and therefore no desktop or taskbar icon is available. The Xerox scanner software does not even show up in the list of installed software in Windows 10. You can only launch the Xerox One Touch software by left clicking on the up arrow in the lower right corner, not the right mouse button. And you need to find the "red and green" "One Touch", "GT" icon. Not very intuitive. It seems so anal for a Windows 10 environment. Product Information: The product information label under the scanner does not list the serial number. I mean the one with the model number and electrical compliance symbols and all other information about the scanner on that label. The serial number is not on this label. There is a small serial number plate on the back of the scanner. Conclusion. Technical support will help you understand how to navigate this outdated software. But it's a powerful, feature-packed software if you need fine-grained scan settings. Scanner technical support is always ready to help. After two great phone calls with tech support where they took control of my computer to show me how to navigate this software I am very happy with the performance of this duplex scanner. Once the "defaults" are set correctly, the scanner just works and will blow your mind! Now I can scan all my double-sided documents with ease.
