That was the right socket replacement for my gear cable! (Nissan Xterra 2006) It came with silicone grease and a small installation tool. I watched a bunch of installation videos on youtube. All I had to do was remove the cup holder section and the section around my shifter (wiggle and gently pull up to remove each section. Make sure all the locking tabs are still down after the sections are removed. to install the grommet at the end my shift Cable My cable was fine and moved smoothly by hand Lubricate the grommet on the outside of the groove and inside the center hole Watch the video to see which way the grommet is on the end of the cable Disassembly so you can reassemble it properly Lubricate the derailleur's pin before you put the cable back on the pin Pin will stick out a little more than 1/16 Make sure it's fully inserted!
