This adapter appears to be very cheaply made and has never worked properly - not once. After inserting a VHS-C cassette into the adapter, there was a fairly loud rewinding noise (I assume this was due to the unit opening the VHS-C cassette's door, allowing the tape to be called up inside the VCR and could be played ) and also some crackling and popping. Unfortunately, the door opened slightly (about half an inch) once the noise stopped. Of course, this meant it wouldn't fit in the VCR's door slot. Note: If I held my finger on the device door to keep it closed, the device just kept making the rewind noise. If I take my finger away, the sound eventually stops, but then... the door opens a little. I have repeated this and tried with two different fresh batteries and always got the same result.
