Review on πŸš™ CURT 13392 Class 3 Trailer Hitch for Jeep Wrangler JL | 2-Inch Receiver, Black by Jerry Eintertainment

Not quite what others say

Pros: Sturdy construction and parts, high quality, $75 do-it-yourself installation vs. $215 + tax at dealership. The bike rack won't fit without a hitch extender (another $50) because the release lever hits a mud tire on the tailgate, preventing it from being fully inserted into the hitch tongue. Almost every review says it was an easy 20 minute install. It doesn't require much skill, but neither is it as easy as inserting four screws and there you go. This installation took 45 minutes and I'm feeling pretty comfortable. On my 2018 Unlimited Sahara, when I got under the car to begin the installation, I found a plate on the frame with two factory bolts. You will need to remove the screws holding this plate to the frame and two more screws holding it to the plastic bumper and loosen this plate. THEN you put this new hitch on the frame and put it between the plate and the frame. It took several hits with a hammer to lift it up. I had to screw one side and then nail the other side back to the frame. The bolts go in an awkward position, but it's definitely possible to do that without dropping the muffler, just in an awkward position. You don't have to enlarge everything, just use two original factory screws on the outer holes and two new screws on the inner holes. Again, no special skills are required and anyone can do it if you know how to use a wrench and ratchet. Also note that depending on the accessories, a hitch extension may be required.

  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Slightly different
