UPDATE: Color palette is MUCH more limited than higher end bulbs (there's a reason Hue bulbs are expensive). When you use Google Home for color pickers, you rarely get what you select. In some cases there is no difference between the color choice. It doesn't get much better than using a native app. I'll keep them to myself anyway because they're better than the ugly buzzing CFLs I had before. I just received them today. First, let me tell you: YOU DO NOT NEED TO INSTALL THE SMARTLIFE APP! The Tuya app (if you already have one) works. If you install the Tuya, iLuv Home, Smart Life or Gosund app, you will immediately notice that the user interface of the apps is identical. This leads me to believe that they are all owned by the same Chinese company (Huawei to be precise). I first started with Tuya Smart Sockets. I now have four Tuya plugs, two iLuv Home plugs, a GoSund smartplug outlet extender (love this thing) and today 9/25/21 four Sunco smart colored LED lights (this product). So GoSund's instructions say to install the GoSund app. Looked the same as the Tuya app. I was able to connect GoSund to my Tuya app. These Sunco bulbs instructed me to install the Smart Life app. Looked the same as the Tuya app. I was able to set them up using the Tuya app. One app to manage them all. I haven't moved my iLuv Home forks to the Tuya app yet (it's sagged a bit). But in the interest of NOT having a bunch of different apps to manage a bunch of different products, I'm glad Tuya works for everyone. It takes a few times to connect over a dual-band (2.4GHz) WiFi network. /5GHz), but after several attempts the application always finds the device. All of these products (I'll just call them Tuya) are pretty good. Cheap and very reliable. I've had some of these smart devices for years, using them day in and day out, with automation and procedures, and I've had little to no connectivity issues. They work well with Google Home too, better than my Philips Hue bulbs I'd say (although I still love them for various reasons). Details on the detailed control of the Google Home app and My Nest displays also allow you to use Tuya products. Tuya products also allow for conditional automation. It's nice to be able to toggle the base on and off, as well as the time of day, sunrise, sunset and even the outside temperature (just wish they were built into my Nest thermostats too). Finally, I would like to say that I just want them to keep all of these products under one brand and not force people to download multiple apps (I don't always want to control everything with my voice - sorry Google).
