Review on Don Franciscos Vanilla Ground Coffee by Troy Robinson

Definitely different!

I like Newman's character in Seinfeld. You know he's a little annoying but never crosses the line when you find him so annoying or off-putting that he makes you feel bad? This coffee somehow reminds me of this character. When I first opened it I got that smoky, burnt burst of coffee out of the can, nothing I was even remotely expecting. On a sunny Saturday I brewed a travel mug and took it to the store. I was under the impression that it has some quirky qualities that make it an enjoyable, albeit different, coffee. The brewed coffee has that smoky note, but not so smoky that it puts you off. It also has a slightly burned note, again not burned enough to be a deal breaker. It's noticeably acidic, but not so much that you throw it away. Somehow this blend manages to take three characteristics of coffee that are definitely not my favorites, combine them and create something I don't drink at all. As for caffeine, I really didn't realize it was more or less than any coffee I normally drink. This will be my Saturday morning drink until I run out of all three cans. Will I buy more when the time comes? I can't answer that now. I like it but I don't like it. Maybe a few months of regular drinking could change that. If you are adventurous you can try this. Considering the price, this is not a big risk.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
