I bought this because I moved into a new house and have had intermittent reception in a number of places. Attached is a diagram of the ground floor. The footprint of the basement is the same (except for the garage), but the basement is essentially a huge open space with decoration. The area of the house is 2500 sq.m. feet (two floors = 5000 square feet). The yellow star is where my old wireless router was placed and that's where the AP-AC Long Range was placed. The issues I've addressed are mostly coverage issues: 1) The Chromecast in the living room couldn't handle 1080p streams. 2) The Chromecast to the gym and master bedroom stuttered a little at 720p. 3) Couldn't use WiFi at all Each of the bathrooms (the garage and the master bathroom) 4) Garage door with WiFi connection which was pretty dodgy 5) The sun deck was a toss up to just search Reddit which sucks because it's a great cafe is. Half the time it won't work. TL; DR All problems solved! I decided to replace what I had (like a 12 year old Belkin wireless router in AP mode for $40-60) with this guy. I figured A) it couldn't be worse, and B) if the issues aren't resolved I'll buy a second one for the mesh. Although they would probably experiment with the location of that first AP-AC LR first. Well, one was enough. Wonderful. All Chromecasts can now handle 1080p via Plex and I can watch Youtube on the toilet/tanning bed. When I ran Google's speed test, there were places where I got 1Mbps, and now 20+ (I pay for 100, but 20 is enough for 1080p video). In both baths I often saw -70 dB signals and now -50 dB. My neighbors' signals no longer interfere with my own. Amen. The only appliance I have in the basement is the Google Home Mini, it sits just below the thermostat in the bathroom on the right side of my floor plan (see the attached picture again, the thermostats are pink things because they're in heating mode condition ). The Mini also connects great and streams music with no issues (my only use case). Also, I installed this thing in about 8 minutes and didn't make any changes, so maybe it gets even better. I didn't ceiling mount it, it just sits on a shelf about 3 feet off the floor. infested. If you're wondering, this floor plan is from Home Assistant and it's amazing.
