The ideal DVM for most applications other than beauty pageants

If you have a fieldpiece DMM for professional or home use, it's perfect for almost any type of maintenance job. I'm using a Fieldpiece LT17A which is just beautiful to the eye of the beholder LOL but does everything from voltage (including thermocouple), current including microamps, resistance, capacitance and temperature. A field element is about as hard to break as an anvil, and while I don't recommend using it as a hammer, it can work quite well. have the courage to buy a decent meter like the Fieldpiece LT17A or any other Fieldpiece. I like the LT17A for its classic DVM design and the fact that it's virtually indestructible. In addition to all the basic functions, it is equipped with a magnetic back panel so that it can be attached to the air duct or motor. Also, the back folds out to form a stand to keep it upright so the display is easy to read. This model doesn't have auto-ranging, but I usually know what the expected readings will be, so I don't care too much about the extra money for auto-ranging. It's nice that I can work with this baby, for example with the air conditioning compressor. You can check voltage, current draw (including max/min), capacity and suction temperature. It's something like the DVM's Baby Huey and you could probably use it to lock a tire while you're lifting the truck and it'll probably still work when the truck is in the junkyard.
