Easy and inexpensive replacement
The original rearview mirror cover on a 1997 Buick Regal failed and was no longer a mirror. Using a flat head screwdriver I removed the old mirror from the windshield mount and installed the new one, tightened the screw and all was good. Before installation I sprayed a little WD40 on the two swivel joints as they were very stiff. It worked. It took the longest to remove the old mirror, which I didn't want to use too much force in case I should crack the windshield, but it takes some effort. Everyone said a simple, cheap, good replacement.
