This is NOT configurable and cannot be disabled. This function is not a problem for most scanned objects. However, edges and edge wear are the most important element in determining the quality of an old postcard. Rounded corners and edges, as well as the general texture of the edges all around, are cropped. The manufacturer specifies the exact dimensions in its specifications.
