I really wanted pastel colors but I bought two sets and the other set (from Walmart) had softer colors than this set. I liked the colors in this set but they were very bright and not what I would call pastel. Soda ash fell out about 3/4 cup. So I only used 3/4 gallons and that was only enough to soak about 4 shirts. I had to run all over town to find more before we started so I could dye more than 4 shirts (luckily I found something that worked). Anyway, the kit seemed like a good idea, but I'll probably go with a tulip next time and skip the soaking and the need for extra consumables.
