The 12 sheet Micro Cutter shredder was purchased to clear a backlog of old documents which would take too long with an older 8 sheet shredder. So far I've emptied a full basket about 20 times. I've never experienced overheating shutdowns. I use the recommended oil after every other full basket to ensure smooth operation. The grinding quality is excellent. Nobody could read anything without special equipment. The noise level is moderate. It's quieter than smaller shredders, but with frequent use it can get in the way of someone in the same room. It easily shreds plastic credit/debit cards. If too many/heavy sheets are loaded, the shredder will automatically reverse to clear the jam and the user can reload a smaller amount. Jams are not common, however, and the 12-sheet capacity is great for most media.
