Fellowes 6M5 Powershred Micro Cut Deskside Review

When the old papers and cards were destroyed it worked pretty well, just let it slide slowly, a few here and a few there. Just overheated. It was almost 30 minutes later. Great paper shredder for home or small business use.

We use it at home. The previous chopper switch failed and stuck frequently (after about 4 years of use) so I ordered it as a replacement. It is compact but holds the same amount of shredded paper as the previous shredder. Less dust and runs smoothly. I've been using it for about a month and I'm very happy with it.

This is a good shredder if you only need to process a few pages every now and then. I bought this shredder 20 years ago and it's a slow process. It does the job, but 2-3 pages at a time. If you use it for 30 minutes, it will overheat and stop. In addition, the container is small, so it needs to be emptied frequently. So not bad, but not for much grinding. This works well if you want to use about 10 minutes at a time monthly.

I bought this to replace a RevainBasics High-Security Micro-Cut 12-sheet shredder that no longer automatically shuts off after shredding. Obviously a problem with the sensor. Please note the size of this document shredder before purchasing. He is small but mighty. It can be ground for up to 7 minutes before needing a cool down period. Ours cooled down and was up and running again in about 10 minutes. It is specified to shred 6 sheets at a time and it did just that. Very small pieces and is considered a micro cut. Good quality paper shredder. However, be careful with the papers you check. I had about 32 pounds of paper and was printing 6 sheets at a time. It was difficult, but I managed it. The 12 sheet Micro Cutter shredder was purchased to clear a backlog of old documents which would take too long with an older 8 sheet shredder. So far I've emptied a full basket about 20 times.
