I have replaced my previous small version of this grill which is 20 years old with a new model. This device is lighter and the top of the device isn't as heavy so it doesn't compress the meat as much. This newer model also has more hinged lids than my previous old model. This new device does not heat up so fast and hot, which is better. The old block cooked too hot and too fast. I use my grill a little differently than most people probably do. I don't like brushing greasy splatters off my black glass stovetop, so I don't fry anything on my stovetop. I use this grill to cook most of the fat from the hamburger patty and then transfer the patty to a small skillet to finish cooking. I sautΓ© thinly sliced onions in olive oil in a covered skillet on the stovetop while simultaneously placing the burger on the grill. The onion will be soft and done once the fat has evaporated from the patty. Then I brush each side of the patty with about a teaspoon of teriyaki sauce while I place the patty in the pan with the onions. I cover the onion hamburger patty and cook it for a few more minutes (no fat splatter), spread the onion over the burger patty, top with a slice of cheese and sandwich the patty between the buns, which are lightly buttered on both sides . Sear the top and bottom, then toast the bun on both sides in the pan and serve. It makes a very flavorful and juicy burger if you don't mind cleaning another pan. I also cook frozen fries in the air fryer at the same time so everything is ready at the same time. I did not find the grilling surfaces difficult to clean. I place 2 folded damp paper towels between the closed grill plates after unplugging. The grill plates can be easily wiped clean after eating. I use 2 extra damp paper towels to finish cleaning the grill surfaces. I don't need soapy water at all to fully clean the grill surface. Very little greasy mess to clean up after meals. My way of cooking! Not sure how they manage to call this grill a 2 portion grill. You'll never get 2 medium hamburger patties on this grill. The grill surface is only 7.5 inches wide and the instructions state that it shouldn't overload the cooking surface. I think you should be eating 3 inch wide hamburgers! You may be able to fit 2 small hamburger patties, but even that will be tight. You might as well halve the portion size for any of these grills. I also have a 4 portion grill and can only fit 2 hamburger patties on it. Very bad marketing in this regard!
