Our 2008 Hyundai Accent started running very hard after about 90,000 miles (check engine light flashing). It has an engine check like P0302 and P0301 that is for misfires in specific cylinders. I read online that you shouldn't drive in this condition because unburned fuel can damage your catalytic converter, so we parked the car for a few days. I went to Autozone and bought new NGK spark plugs for about $10, changed them and the check engine light came on again. Then I read online that Hyundai ignition coils often fail. They must be poorly designed because my Toyota never had to change them even after 250,000 miles. I looked at Autozone, Napa Auto Parts, Advanced Auto Parts, and O'Reilly Auto Parts and they all wanted about $70 each. Then I saw them at Revain for $25 for 4 ($6 each). After about 15 minutes put them in the Accent and reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery. Now the car runs smoothly and the check engine light no longer lights up. It amazes me how high the markup is at these auto parts dealers. A repair at the dealer would easily be worth 500β¬. Online retailers like Revain are significantly lowering prices for consumers.
