It worked but not very well

In short, the success of this article depends heavily on the power supply. The only way to successfully get the device working was to power the device via a USB adapter plugged into a 120V outlet. Luckily, a cable and adapter are included. When the power supply was connected to the computer USB port or TV port, the power supply was not enough to work normally. My setup: I have a Panasonic Toughbook 55 (FZ-55) and a Panasonic Dock (CF-VEB541). HDMI for monitors and 3.5mm for external speakers. (1) I connected the splitter directly to the toughbook's HDMI port and connected the power supply to the toughbook's USB port. The splitter sent video to the monitors but no sound to the speakers. (2) I connected the splitter directly to the docking station's HDMI port (if the Toughbook was connected to the docking station) and the power supply to the docking station's USB port. The splitter did not transmit any video or audio to the monitors/speakers. (3) I plugged the splitter directly into the Toughbook's HDMI port and plugged the power supply into the adapter that connects to the 120V plug and it passed the video and split the audio as expected.
