Review on Enhanced Gaming Experience: ASUS PG279QM 2560X1440P, 240Hz Monitor with Swivel and Pivot Adjustment, Blue Light Filter by Keith Orrillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best 1440p monitor, period.

This is the best 1440p 240Hz monitor you can buy. Heck, this is the best 1440p monitor, period. It is ABSOLUTELY worth the extra $200 to get the native G-Sync engine and all the benefits that come with it, not to mention the wide color gamut support and other perks of this monitor (the colors on this monitor are really crazy) . If you've never owned a true wide color monitor, you don't know what you're missing out on. Not only does it turn on NVCP Digital Vibrance for more saturation, it's actually able to render more colors and make them more saturated, creating a display that's insanely beautiful. Games appear like you've never experienced them before. Not only that, switch it back to sRGB mode and you have the most accurate 1440p monitor ever, factory calibrated. The native G-Sync engine has variable overdrive from 1 to 240Hz, meaning you'll always have the best overdrive setting for your monitor regardless of your FPS. Other monitors, if you want to get optimal and maximum performance, have to constantly change the OD settings depending on what game you are playing. And if you're playing a game that fluctuates wildly in FPS (let's face it, 1440p is the majority of games) then you'll NEVER be on the optimal OD setting because you'll always appear and disappear. the optimal range for each OD that you set manually. TLDR: Well worth the extra $200. Built-in G-Sync, best colors, built like a tank, no factory hassles, fully automatic installation, no worries about settings, the best monitor you can get. If you're already spending $700 on a contest, do yourself a favor and just spend another $200 on it. You will not regret it. (My monitor was in perfect condition, no dead pixels, minimal backlight, etc.)
