Review on Renewed Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop: 15.6" 144Hz, AMD Ryzen 7-4800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 2060 6GB, Phantom Black by Anson Chen ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am very happy with this purchase, I will advise everyone!

Previously, I had a Lenovo IdeaPad 310 15' with an Intel Core i3 6100U on board for 3 years. I took it just in case if I need to work from home once / twice a month. But due to the pandemic and the transition to permanent work from home, a laptop was not enough, and a TN matrix with HD resolution simply killed the eyes. Incidentally, the Legion 5 is noticeably quieter than my old IdeaPad 310, which has no gaming flair. Initially I chose between Legion 5 on Ryzen 5 4600H and IdeaPad 5 14’ on Ryzen 7 4700U. The last option is very nice, and completely aluminum, but it was sold only with delivery from Hong Kong with an additional charge (for 60,000.00 in the Notik store - this is if you buy a gray product without risk) and without an installed OS (not critical, but buying a license is also worth keeping in mind ). The latter is snapped up like hot cakes, and even when I managed to place an order, they called me back to inform me that all laptops of this model had already been sold out. Yes, and the display of the second is 45% sRGB, and there is no way to expand the RAM. And, an important point, the IdeaPad 5 14’ can only be charged via USB Type-C, and only using a standard power supply. That is, just plugging it into the phone adapter for recharging in the car's cigarette lighter will not work - it will not charge (the idea is good, but the execution is so-so so far). I didn’t choose a laptop for games, because I don’t even play PS4 (it’s been gathering dust for almost a year now). For comfortable work with the code editor, Photoshop and a couple of browsers - its config is enough. And yes, you can connect 3 external displays to forget about Alt+Tab altogether.

Pros
  • Below I have given the advantages that I have identified in this model for myself: 1) The laptop is very pleasant to the touch - high-quality plastic both on the buttons and the touchpad themselves, and on the cover around the keyboard. This was a pleasant surprise, since on the Internet you choose according to the form factor and hardware stuffing. 2) The laptop is very quiet in Silent mode. 3) 100% sRGB color reproduction is one of the best for this price. 4) Most of the ports and the memory slot are located on the back side. 5) The Home, End, PgUp, PgDn buttons are located above the block with a numeric keypad and are available without holding the Fn button. 6) Three modes of system operation: Silent, Performance (only when powered from the mains), Auto. 7) Two-level white keyboard backlight. 8) The design is discreet (for a gaming laptop). 9) Ability to upgrade RAM up to 32GB. 10) Large battery and at the same time Li-Pol (long operating time and fast charging).
Cons
  • 1) perhaps he is heavy by modern standards. 2) total 256GB SSD.
