Review on πŸ”§ Optimize Your 2012-Later 21.5inch iMac with OWC General Servicing Kit by Clayton Jimenez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect, installed SSD in about 20 minutes, sealed like new

This kit contains everything you need to open and reseal your 21.5" iMac. The kit comes with 2 sets of gaskets , just in case I should do it again, and also allowed me to swap out the SSD with a drive of my choice, allowing me to save big on the full OWC kit that includes the SSD and the enclosure am very satisfied and would recommend this to anyone looking to do it to replace a drive in a 21.5" iMac. According to the OWC video it was very easy, actually a lot easier than the old magnetic screen iMacs. Short Video summary, pretty damn simple 1. Cut through the screen holding the tape to the alum using the supplied plastic tool, similar to a mini pizza cutter 2. Tilt the top of the screen away from the aluminum casing and nd remove it from the motherboard3. Take the screen out of the case and remove the remaining tape.4. Unscrew the disc holder including the supplied torx screwdriver and replace the discs.5. Replace disc holder 6. Place the new tape on the aluminum case7. Replace the screen bottom first, reconnect the cables, then tilt everything back toward the case and press the edges to ensure the tape adheres. Admire your brilliance by reinstalling macOS with Internet Recovery, restoring from a backup, or closing an old drive with a new one (requires a cheap USB 3 2.5" enclosure and cloning software such as SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner). 9. Step 8 Was it, no step 9. Now you have a much faster iMac. That's it. It took me 20 minutes.
