I drive an Andalusian/Mustang through very rough terrain in deep west Texas. Rocks, mesquite thickets, giant cacti, shale, sand, and steep trails are common here. This is not for weak horses or people. Protecting my stallion's hooves and shins is vital. The cholla's spines can be up to 4 centimeters long and can pierce the front leg in a split second. We only use Cavello boots and good athletic boots on all four feet when we ride and they catch all kinds of spikes. They fit his front legs but are too short for his back legs. Velcro straps feel solid and well stitched. The boots didn't move or slip during a 12 mile ride across the desert the other morning - no signs of wear. They caught some mesquite thorns and a prickly pear which prevented the thorns from reaching the skin. My only issue is they seem hotter than our regular famous brand trainers - he had sweat underneath and I don't usually see it.
