Review on Imus Seal Butyl Joist Tape: Ultimate Waterproofing Solution for Flashing Deck Joists and Beams (1-5/8” x 50’) by Mark Toth

I originally wanted to create a moisture barrier between my new outdoor deck ladder stiles and the Trex decking I used for my ladder, and found another bonus. On some other deck joists where I have used copper brown wood preservative on the cuts and where those surfaces were in direct contact with the underside of Trex composite panels, the wood preservative seeped into the boards and discolored them significantly! Wherever I've used this tape, there hasn't been any washout or discoloration. It's a little pricey, but it's not a bad idea to use over all joists and stringers!
