Review on πŸ’½ 250GB Caviar Blue Hard Drive by Western Digital by Reid Rickerson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Two out of five didn't work

I bought five of these to build five new computers. Three hard drives work fine, no problem. However, the same cannot be said of the other two. One of the two just didn't work - right out of the box. The other one might have been my fault. I connected it to the motherboard and put it on the table. The glass pot also stood on the table and stood on top of other things. The pot was not placed in the most stable position and eventually fell off. On the way down he hit the hard drive. The pot was missing when it fell to the ground and broke. As for the hard drive, I didn't even get a chance to try it until it blew up. Anyway, when I finally connected everything, the hard drive didn't work. Maybe it was because he was hit by a pot, or maybe it wouldn't have worked right away. I can never be sure. Because of this, I only sent back what didn't work. I think hard drives are good, but rather vulnerable. You have to make sure they never hit too hard. Only one hard drive out of five was packaged well for shipping. It was packaged with its own plastic stabilizers at each end. The other four were individually placed in small bubble envelopes and did not appear to have adequate protection. If my little swipe from the pan resulted in one drive breaking, I wouldn't be surprised if the other one broke in transit. If the disc is not broken by the pot, it might have broken during shipping. The best thing about these drives is the price. So far I haven't had any problems with the ones that work and have never had any problems with 3.5" hard drives under 1TB. In any case, I'll leave it up to you how adventurous the purchase of these hard drives is. Two out of five mine didn't work. But maybe I'm to blame for one of the two.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
