I do NOT use these according to manufacturer's instructions. I use them as a waterproof liner in my hiking backpack. I open it, put it in my backpack and start filling it. It doesn't rip, it's much larger than the inside of a backpack so you get full coverage and everything inside stays dry. +++ for this use.
