I got two good pieces of wood. One was "branched," the other looked more like a tree trunk. Both are pretty cool and a decent size. As for tannins, I put all my Mopani, two from Revain, and a large piece I bought at pet stores in a 5 gallon bucket. I boil water and pour it over the wood and fill the bucket for the night. In the morning I drain the almost black water and fill it up with hot tap water. Then I repeat the process. If you're looking to get rid of tannins, it looks like it's going to take a long time. If you want clean water in your tank, putting it in the tank right away would be a BAD idea. Remember that tannins do not harm anything in your aquarium. Since my wood is going to the new aquarium, I don't mind the wait. And it looks like this mopani is going to take a long time to set and finish. The photo shows what the water looks like after just 10 minutes of boiling water. In the morning it will be the color of black coffee. However, I expected this to be the case, so it doesn't really matter to me.
