Review on πŸͺ“ Stanley 16 971: 6-Piece FatMax Chisel Set for Precision Woodworking by Allan Lambert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good set but forgot suitcase.

High quality set. The edges were correct and right out of the box. Not as spicy as I'd like, but that's personal preference. They all took the 2000 grit well, I haven't used them long enough to speak of edge retention. The rubber grips help me get a good grip when my hands get sweaty. I like the metal knob on the back of the handle. I know I won't ruin the pen by hitting it with a hammer. Decent starter kit. This set does not include dual size FaxMax chisels, I will order them separately. I believe it's 3/8" and 5/8". The suitcase they came in is junk. It went straight in the trash. The plastic of the case itself is good enough to store the set, but the blown plastic that houses the chisels is as thin as tissue paper. I'm surprised it didn't exactly crack under the weight of the tools. Additionally, the latch that holds the housing closed is not hinged or held to the housing. The clip just comes off. It gets lost very easily. The case's handle doesn't fold, it just sits in the slots when the case is closed. I would have thought it would break easily. Ultimately I love this set. Nice set for the hobbyist. I bought a roll of leather and canvas tools to store mine and it works great. I would recommend to those who don't need to shell out large sums of money for a set of decent chisels. Thanks very much!
