I bought this box because certain housemates had a habit of "borrowing" my medicinal cannabis without asking or paying me back for it. For this purpose it's perfect. It can be opened without a key, simply by taking something like a sturdy metal butter knife, wedging it between the top and bottom portions, and applying some force. I know this for a fact because I lost the keys to one of these very boxes and was able to do this to get my stuff out. But doing this will require some effort, it'll take a minute or two, and it will break the locking mechanism irreversibly and make it very obvious that the box was broken into.So basically: if you're trying to keep stuff safe from nosy or handsy housemates/roommates who take things from you hoping you won't notice, this is a great product. If you know who you're worried about protecting the contents from, it'll be really obvious if they break in and you can confront them and hold them accountable. But if you want to store, say, large amounts of cash or valuables securely in your home and keep them safe from a burglar, you're gonna need to shell out for something like a wall safe.
