Excellent Powerful miniature computer

Meets the standards I expect from simple shuttle systems. I've had three so far since the mid 2000's. I find this one better for my purposes than their new design that doesn't support an optical drive. Cooling is good, but that may be because newer processors, while faster, emit much less heat. My previous unit had a 135W TDP processor and ran 24/7 under full load, which made cooling a minor issue. The new style is designed for TDPs of up to 95W, while the excellent Intel i7-6700 is only 65W. Nothing is perfect: it's a disappointment that they switched to Intel style pins to attach the heat pipe stack to the CPU instead of their previous screws and I HATE those pins. It's also good to know that there's only one USB3 port internally, and it gets power from the front panel. So if you have an internal device that requires USB3, you're probably out of luck (it's possible to buy a splitter for the header). , but I wouldn't trust that myself). Anyone who's ever built a computer should have no trouble assembling one of these in under an hour (just watch the pins and be sure 3 times that they're locked in place). My shuttle is equipped with Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB memory, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 950 OC, Intel i7-6700 processor, LG WH16NS40 16X Blu-ray optical drive. I pulled the Samsung SSD and 3TB hard drive out of my previous device and got Microsoft to easily re-bless the system configuration. I'm migrating the old box to Mint Linux and it's working fine.
